Moles are usually entirely harmless skin growths. However, skin imperfections can cause discomfort and embarrassment. Skin Cancer and Mole Removal is provided by Mr Irfan Khan at his clinics in Liverpool. He works with a skilled and experienced team that will provide exceptional care for you.
A mole can be anything from your natural skin colour to a range of darker tones. Minor surgery can remove them, although it is important to check first whether removal is your best option.
Skin Cancer and Mole Removal Consultation
Skin Cancer and Mole Removal are common procedures carried out regularly. All skin lesions and moles are different so a consultation to examine them is very important. This allows them to be studied in depth so the right treatment can be chosen.
Surgery for mole removal is very simple and usually takes place under local anaesthetic. There is some minimal scarring and it fades over time. More suspicious moles are removed via surgery. These are analysed at a laboratory so a full understanding is gained to ensure there are no problems.
In most instances, the mole is harmless. In others, it may be a melanoma which is a type of skin cancer. Signs of melanoma include a mole that has changed colour or has 2 or more colours, uneven edges or bleeding, itching and crusting. If you notice changes, you should speak to your GP at the earliest opportunity.
More information about moles and melanoma can be found on the NHS website.
Mole Removal Aftercare
Patients usually leave shortly after the procedure and aftercare is quite straightforward. Patients experience some soreness once the anaesthetic wears off, but you will be provided with pain relief medication if needed. Most patients need no time off work after the procedure, but you should keep the incision site dry for the first few days, so avoid submerging it in water or showering onto the area. A scab may develop but this should heal within a week or so.
