Abdominoplasty / Liposuction
Dealing with the stubborn fat and skin around the abdomen is something many people struggle with.
Despite working on diet and exercise, it can be difficult to get the exact look you want for your abdominal area, which is why both abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction are popular procedures.
Mr Khan is experienced in both and can help patients achieve the change they’re looking for in their appearance and the added benefits that come with this.
Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty surgery involves removing skin and fat from below the tummy button. It can also involve the tightening and repositioning of the muscles in this area. It is popular with women who have finished having their family.
The abdominoplasty procedure leaves patients with much a flatter and “toned” looking stomach and the scarring is usually limited to within the tummy button and from hip to hip. It is positioned to fit comfortably with your underwear line. Uneven body shape, weight or excess fat and skin are all common problems which people can feel very self-conscious about, abdominoplasty surgery helps to deal with these concerns and give people confidence and comfort in their bodies again.
The abdominoplasty procedure depends on the individual circumstances. Options include mini abdominoplasty where there is only a little excess skin and endoscopic abdominoplasty which is designed for patients who just need their abdominal wall muscles tightening.
Full abdominoplasty is often combined with liposuction. A cut is made from hip to hip and fat is removed and loose muscles are tightened and stitched together. The procedure usually takes no longer than two hours and patients will need at least one night in the hospital, maybe more dependent on their individual recovery rate.
Liposuction
Liposuction removes excess and stubborn fat from the body which may be difficult to get rid of in any other way for most people. These fatty deposits most commonly occur around the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs and chin. Liposuction involves using a thin metal tube which is inserted into the body and attached to a vacuum pump. The vacuum removes the fat quickly and effectively.
Liposuction is performed under general anaesthetic in most cases, unless just a small amount of fat is being removed. There are both dry and wet liposuction procedures, with the latter involving the injection of a fluid mixture to help reduce bleeding, swelling and bruising.
